This book contains more than creatures for use in D UNGEONS & D RAGONS ® adven-tures. This introduction explains how to read a monster s write-up, including summaries of the most common attacks and abilities.

The monster entries are arranged alphabetically by name. Monsters of the same kind are grouped under. Fiend Folio () The Fiend Folio: Tome of Creatures Malevolent and Benign was the second monster book for the first edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, published in While the Monster Manual consisted primarily of monsters previously published in D&D books edited by Gary Gygax, the Fiend Folio consisted mostly of monsters submitted to White Dwarf's "Fiend Factory" column.

It was a tantalizing peek at what it would be like to somehow have the entire global D&D community participate in one of my own campaigns.

Rating: User: Comments: 4 / Sleeper: The original Fiend Folio was wildly uneven. While there were a few wonderful monsters, there were also a fair number of terrible monsters, and the rest leaned heavily toward the weird end of the spectrum. The Field Folio was a very 'hit or miss' book for me, back in the day.

Mostly a 'miss'. BUT. I do love all things 1E AD &D, and there are more than a few gems in there too. The Githyanki were pretty cool, and you could have a campaign based on them as enemies. 1E Fiend Folio, Planescape Campaign Setting: Aleerin: 1/2: D20 Future: Alfar: Encyclopedia of Demons & Devils 2: Algoid: 4: Tome of Horrors 1, 1E Fiend Folio, 2E Fiend Folio (MC14) Alguduir: Forgotten Realms 2 (MC11) Alguduir, Young: Forgotten Realms 2 (MC11) Alhoon: Lords of Madness, Monstrous Compendium Annual 3.

The Fiend Folio is a page hardback book, full colour for the most part, and very attractive. The cover seems to depict a pit to hell; I did not find this as striking or as effective as the cover for Monster Manual II, but it is serviceable.

The book retails for US$, which is standard for a D&D book of this size. In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the fyrefly is an insect-like creature from the Elemental Plane of Fire.
